Women’s Lacrosse: HPU’s Perrotta Selected in 2018 UWLX College Draft

BOSTON, Mass. — High Point University women’s lacrosse senior Erica Perrotta was selected by the Philadelphia Force in the 2018 United Women’s Lacrosse League’s 2018 College Draft Wednesday night (Nov. 29).

Selected in the eighth round (31st overall) by the Philadelphia Force, Perrotta will have the opportunity to continue her lacrosse career after her eligibility is up with the Panthers in the Spring of 2018.

Perrotta is entering her senior year with 98 career goals and 59 assists in 57 games for the Panthers. In addition, she has racked up 103 ground balls, 94 draw controls and 88 caused turnovers, which ranks second in HPU history. She is a three-time All-Big South First Team selection. In 2017, Perrotta posted 13 multi-goal games including five hat tricks.

The United Women’s Lacrosse League is a semi-professional league that was started in 2016 and has four teams in Baltimore, Boston, Long Island and Philadelphia. More than 60 student-athletes were selected from nearly 30 different colleges and universities.

High Point’s assistant coaches, Kelly McQuilkin and Carolina Margolis, are set to play in the inaugural season of the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League in 2018. Margolis will play for the New England Command, while McQuilkin will lineup for the Baltimore Brave.

The Panthers will open the 2018 season against Furman on Feb. 10. First draw at Vert Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
