East Forsyth seized the lead early in their second road game of the week at Carver & never looked back enroute to a 69-40 win over the Yellowjackets at Alfred Poe Gymnasium.

The Eagles’ stifling defense limited Carver to one field goal in the first quarter, opening a 17-3 lead in the first six minutes. East now 2-0, led by as many as 23 in the first half (39-16), stretching its lead to as many as 32 points (67-35) with three minutes left in the game.

As he did in the Eagles’ 34-point season-opening road win in their opener at Parkland Tuesday night, Coach Mike Muse went to his bench often, as 11 different players scored for East led by Shemar Watkins’ 14 points.

Seniors Tyren Hairston (10), Tanis Samuels (9) and Josh Mahaffey (8) joined the balanced scoring while Dom Jones added 6 points & led the Eagles with eight rebounds. Samuels & PG Jimmy Nichols contributed 5 assists each to the Eagles’ total of 20 in the win. Russ Bradley led the Yellowjackets, now 1-2, with 12 points.

East Forsyth returns to action Tuesday night against Parkland to begin a three-time homestand that includes North Surry (Wednesday) & Carver (Friday).
