HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University men’s basketball team (3-4) goes on the road Monday night (Dec. 4) to face College of Charleston. Tip-off at the TD Arena in Charleston, S.C., is set for 7 p.m.

Kevin Burke and Stafford Stephenson will be back on the call on the High Point Panthers Radio Network on Friday, with pre-game coverage beginning approximately at 6:30 p.m.

PAW PRINTS
• This will be the fifth meeting between the two programs with the series tied, 2-2. The Cougars captured the latest meeting, 93-48, on Nov. 20, 1981 in Charleston, S.C.
• High Point is coming off a 90-54 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday night (Dec. 1) at the Millis Center. Junior Andre Fox led the Panthers with 14 points.
• Against Johnson & Wales on Dec. 1, all 12 HPU players that saw action scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound. It was the first time the Panthers have accomplished this feat since an 88-80 win over Longwood on Feb. 18, 2016 in Farmville, Va.
• Sophomore Cliff Thomas Jr. posted a career-high 12 points to go along with six rebounds against Johnson & Wales. Junior Dexter Gooding had a career-high four steals in nine minutes against the Wildcats. In addition, senior Jordan Whitehead added a career-high seven points with six rebounds.
• Junior Andre Fox scored a game-high 20 points at Pitt and has 20 or more points in four of seven games this season. He scored career highs in back-to-back games, tallying 24 against The Citadel before dropping 25 on Methodist. The 2016-17 Panthers had players score 20 or more 14 times, while this year has already seen six occasions (Fox 4x, Kamga and Proctor once each).
• Fox is currently fourth in the Big South with 18.3 points per game, tied for third in field goal percentage at 50.0 percent and is second in the conference with a 93.3 free throw percentage.
• Freshman Denny Slay had a breakout game against Pitt, scoring 12 points with a pair of rebounds, assists and steals without a turnover. He followed that up with eight points against Johnson & Wales and has 20 points in his last two games after only scoring five points in his first five contests. Slay has started six of seven games this season at point guard.

HISTORY vs. COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
This will be the fifth meeting between the two programs with the series tied, 2-2. The series dates back to 1931-32, where the Cougars won the first meeting, 54-23. The Panthers were victorious in the next two meetings in the 1950’s, while College of Charleston captured the latest meeting, 93-48, on Nov. 20, 1981 in Charleston, S.C.

A LOOK AT THE COUGARS (5-2)
College of Charleston is riding a three-game win streak after defeating Western Carolina, 69-60, on Thursday (Nov. 30) at TD Arena. Joe Chealey leads the Cougars, averaging 19.3 points per game and 5.3 assists per contest. Grant Riller is posting 14.0 points per contest, while Nick Harris is the leading rebounder at 6.0 per game. Both High Point and College of Charleston have played Charlotte this season, with the Panthers falling in a 70-67 heartbreaker on Nov. 24 in Charlotte, while the Cougars pulled out an 81-72 win over the 49ers in Charlotte on Nov. 18.

HISTORY vs. CAA OPPONENTS
The Panthers are 105-92 (.533) all-time against current members of the Colonial Athletic Association. HPU’s most common opponents are Elon (86-76), UNC Wilmington (10-6) and William & Mary (4-3). HPU went 0-1 last season against teams from the CAA, falling to Drexel, 78-72 on Dec. 3, 2016 in the Millis Center.
