East Forsyth withstood a mid-game challenge from home-standing Ragsdale & secured it’s fifth straight win of the season with a resounding 64-45 in Jamestown Tuesday night.
The Eagles started with a flourish, scored 17 of the game’s first 21 points over the first six minutes behind stifling defense, but saw their lead gradually cut to three points (33-30) two minutes into the third quarter.
East regained its defensive continuity and reeled off 16 straight points over the next seven minutes to push the lead to 49-30 early in the fourth quarter & was not challenged late, stretching the margin to 22 (64-42) with two minutes remaining before clearing the bench.
Josh Mahaffey led the Eagles with 15 points and Connor Sparrow had his best game of the young season with 14 points (7-10 FGs) and team-high seven rebounds. East earned an 18-rebound margin over the Tigers, with seniors Tyren Hairston (7) & Tanis Samuels (6) joining Sparrow’s strong effort on the glass.
For the second straight week, East Forsyth plays on consecutive nights, hosting the Carver Yellowjackets tomorrow in Kernersville in a game postponed by snow last Friday night.
