Elon Football’s Weeks Named Freshman All-American

ELON, N.C. – Elon University wide receiver Kortez Weeks has been named as a second team member of the Phil Steele FCS Freshman All-America Teams.

A native of Mt. Ulla, N.C., Weeks led the Phoenix with 60 receptions and 709 receiving yards as a true freshman. Weeks, who earned third-team All-CAA Football honors, averaged 11.8 yards per catch and 59.1 receiving yards per game. He became the first Elon receiver since 2012 to have back-to-back 100-yard receiving games after posting highs of 11 catches for 205 yards in a win at #13 Villanova and nine grabs for 139 yards in a victory over Towson. Following the win at Villanova, Weeks was recognized as the CAA Football Rookie of the Week.

The play of Weeks helped the Phoenix conclude the 2017 season with an 8-4 overall record, a six-game improvement from the previous season, and earn a third-place finish in CAA Football with a 6-2 league mark as Elon earned its second-ever bid to the FCS Playoffs.
