Southwest Guilford vs Andrews Boys Basketball (SHEETZ 1st Round)

The Cowboys played host in the nightcap of the opening round of the Sheetz Holiday Classic. Southwest faced off against city foe Andrews. The Red Raiders and Cowboys came into tonight looking to cap of an entertaining day of hoops here at the Ranch. The Cowboys got on the board fast with a 3 pointer to lead 3-0, but the Raiders managed to respond to make it 3-2 at the 7:15 mark. That was as close as it would be for the rest of the night. Southwest scored 11 unanswered points to lead 14-2 at the 3:32 mark. An Andrews basket stopped the bleeding, but a band aid can only do so much as another 8-0 run made it 20-4. The teams traded baskets one more time to close the frame at 22-6.

A quick 6-0 spurt to start the second quarter put the Cowboys up 28-6.The teams played evenly from there for the half as the teams traded baskets and the opening half closed at 46-20.

The third frame started with a Red Raiders bucket to make it 46-22, but from there it was another 9-0 run by the Cowboys that took it to 55-22 at the 5:25 mark. The Red Raiders used a 4-0 spurt to get it to 55-26 at the 4:35 mark, but the Cowboys continued to put runs together and closed the frame up 70-36.

The final frame started slowly for both groups, but a thunderous dunk at the 4:15 mark got the clock running with the score 76-36. The Cowboys cruised from that point to the tune of an 85-42 convincing victory in the opening round of the Sheetz Holiday Classic.

  1. If the Burlington School played at 4:30 and South West played at 7:30, how can you have a write up for the last game but not one that was played 3 hours earlier?

  2. If you have a write up for South West the host team that played at 7:30 PM, surely you should have a write up on a game that was 3 hours earlier. The Burlington School vs Lexington

  3. If you have a write up for the 7:30 game surely there should be one for a game that was played 3 hours earlier.

  4. Southwest Guilford does the write up themselves and they send it to us…Wish other teams would do that…

SWG has an assistant coach, Greg Vlazny and he can go and he is the Cowboys’ messenger and he is worth weight in Gold pardner….
