Polls coming in from NCPreps.com, The Phenom Hoop Report and the 8 Ball Hoop Insider….All the polls are posted at the Charlotte Observer.com site and you’ll see EG and Smith boys in the Top 10, NWG girls are #3 in the 4-A’s, EG girls are #6 3-A and they are joined by Rockingham County, Western Alamance and Southwest Randolph, but No Northern Guilford girls yet and in the Private School Boys, WES and GDS are fighting it out for the Top Two Spots…

The top team in the state overall may be the Cox Mill boys with Wendell Moore and Leakey Black and they have been playing some tough comp and they went down to Myrtle Beach for a National Tournament last week, that included Montverde, DeMatha and Long Island Lutheran among others on hand…..

  1. DeMatha defeated Cox Mill (Concord, N.C.), 64-63, for third place at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina…

  2. Interesting listing for the Greensboro Day School boys ranked #14 in the nation in the BlueStar Media Top 25 National High School Boys Basketball Poll:

    14. GREENSBORO (N.C.) COUNTRY DAY (17-2)
    Previous rank: 19.

Low-down: Won the HAEBCO Invitational title for the seventh consecutive year, topping E.E. Smith (Greensboro), 73-49, in Greensboro. Clemson-bound John Newman netted 24 points to earn MVP honors.

I think they got a few spellings and names wrong, you think???

  3. If there is a HAEBCO Invitational Tournament, E.E. Smith, might be going to that one, but for sure not the local HAECO, we have the Ben L. Smith and the Eagles are making strides….
