PAW PRINTS
• This will be the 54th meeting between the two programs, with the Panthers holding a 33-20 lead in the series. High Point has won the last six meetings in the series, including both games last season.
• The Panthers are coming off of a 62-45 setback at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night (Jan. 9). Sophomore Brandonn Kamga led HPU with 11 points, while sophomore Jahaad Proctor added 10.
• High Point will look to buck a trend away from home, as the Panthers are 6-1 at the Millis Center and 1-7 away from campus. The Panthers are averaging 85.2 point per Division I game at home (91.4 overall) and are shooting 50.8 percent from the floor and 49.2 percent behind the arc at the Millis Center. On the road, HPU is shooting 38.3 percent (30.6 percent from three) and is averaging 59.7 points per contest. Another factor is at the Millis Center, HPU has a +5.4 rebounding margin per game, while on the road, they have a -3.3 rebounding margin.
• Sophomore Jahaad Proctor has regained his early-season form after missing five games with an ankle injury. In his six games back in action, Proctor is averaging 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Proctor had four assists in each of the four games prior to Gardner-Webb. He has six games with four or more assists this season and HPU is 5-1 in those contests.
• The biggest beneficiary of Proctor’s presence in the lineup is junior Andre Fox. In the five games without Proctor, Fox averaged 14.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game and shot 43.5 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from 3-point range. However, with Proctor in action, Fox is shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 55.3 percent from three and is averaging 19.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
• Fox has scored 20 or more points in three of four conference games after pouring in 20 against Charleston Southern. He had a career-high 27 against UNC Asheville and added 21 at Winthrop. Fox has eight games with at least 20 points this season, where he had six such games in all of 2016-17.
• Fox is currently third in the Big South in scoring at 18.2 points per game and field goal percentage at 50.6 percent. He is currently shooting 52.3 percent from 3-point range, which is on pace to break the single-season school record of 52.1 percent, set by Jarius Simms in 2009-10.
