HPU Track and Field Opens Action at ETSU Invitational

HPU Women Complete First Day of ETSU Invitational
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The High Point University women’s track and field team finished first-day of action at the indoor season-opening ETSU Invitational Friday (Jan. 12) in Johnson City, Tenn.

Sophomore Zoe Geis placed third in the 5,000 meters in 18:50.82, while fellow sophomore Kylie Hennessey was seventh in 18:55.55.

Sophomore Ariel Wilbekin placed 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.58m (34-8.5)

In the weight throw, senior Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine placed 21st with a throw of 12.79m (41-11.5)

Sophomore Anika Weisbrod placed 21st in the 60 meters in 9.88, while senior CeAnna Soper was right behind in 22nd in 9.95. Sophomore Madison Reynolds was 27th in 10.24.

In the 400 meters, junior Jasmyn Gillespie finished 23rd in 1:02.64.

The action at the ETSU concludes Saturday with action beginning at 8 a.m.

High Point Men Open Action at ETSU Invitational
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The High Point University men’s track and field team opened the indoor season with first-day action at the ETSU Invitational Friday (Jan. 12) in Johnson City, Tenn.

Sophomore Carter Clasper cleared a height of 4.55m (14-11) in the pole vault to finish fifth, while fellow sophomore Zane Griffith was seventh at a height of 4.25m (13-11.25).

Sophomore Pablo Romero was 15th in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.66.

Making his debut in the Purple & White, freshman Brendan McCabe placed 25th in the 800 meters in 2:02.59.

In the 200 meters, senior James House finished 35th in 22.79.

The action at the ETSU concludes Saturday with action beginning at 8 a.m.
