GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College wrestling team defeated the Knights of Southern Virginia University Tuesday, 24-28.

Dylan Cook(Ragsdale High School) got the Pride on the board first with a 6-3 decision victory over Aaron Freidhof before Greensboro extended their lead to 9-0 with a forfeit victory at 133-lbs.

However, the Knights were able to score the duals next 12 points to take a three-point lead before Conan Wilson tallied a fall victory of his own to regain a 15-12 lead for the Pride.

Greensboro was then able to get a major decision victory by Quaevon Cannon before Tryon Dudley tallied a fall victory over Carlos Duran to push the score to 25-12 in favor of the Pride.

Over the final three bouts of the evening, Southern Virginia scored a pair of wins but Carlos Ortega(Ben L. Smith High School) tallied a 10-5 decision victory for Greensboro to secure the win.

“I am proud of our guys performance tonight as we felt like we were dominant in all the matches as we had opportunities in all of them,” Head Coach Erik Wince said. “But again to give up 12 points out of the gate and come out on top shows how hard the guys are working. We are getting ready to have a great finish to the season.”
