Northwest Guilford-Southern Durham Boys Basketball:Vikings top a talented SD team with Hampton, Reiber and Perry leading NWG scoring and Tommy Smith taking charge(s)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 66, SOUTHERN DURHAM 63
GAME NOTES:
–In a non-conference game, Northwest Guilford and Southern Durham battled in an entertaining matchup that saw the Vikings end up with a 66-63 win. Both teams traded baskets during the 1st quarter that ended in a 2-point advantage for Northwest. The 2nd quarter saw the Vikings put together a few good plays on both ends of the floor until the last 75 seconds when the Spartans finished the half with a 7-0 run to trim the Viking’s halftime lead to only 5 points. The 2nd half saw the teams go back and forth with Southern Durham erasing their deficit and even mounting a 5-point lead of their own. The Vikings were able to use multiple defenses to claw back into the game and ultimately hold on for the victory.
— Christian Hampton led the Vikings with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Dean Reiber finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while Tristan Perry contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals for Northwest. Jacob Riddles added 7 points and 4 steals while Johnny Pagano had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Tommy Smith helped to set the defensive tone for the Vikings as he took 3 charges.
–Southern Durham was led by J. Brown with 27 points while J. Harvey finished with 11 points for the Spartans.
