Gregory’s Put-back Pushes Pride Women Past Ferrum

FERRUM, Va.— The Greensboro College women’s basketball team conquered the Panthers of Ferrum College Saturday, 66-64.

The Pride women battled for the lead during the first two periods of the contest. After nine ties in the first half, Greensboro went into the half leading the Panthers, 31-28.

At the start of the third period, the Pride women released an 18-10 run and held onto a six-point lead going into the final period.

With only seven seconds remaining, Ferrum caught up with Greensboro and tied the game at 64-64. To break the tie, Katie Lewis(Southeast Guilford High School) put up a jump shot and Rasheika Gregory got the offensive rebound and put it back up to win the game.

“It was a great overall team win today,” Head Coach Randy Tuggle said. “I thought we played one of the most complete games this year.

“We have a lot of people to contribute to the win.”

Both Lewis(Southeast Guilford High School) and Shaniah Haynes posted 11 points, while Sabria Joseph tacked on 10 points and three steals.
