Women’s College Basketball Final: Guilford 68, Eastern Mennonite 43

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Jasmine McBride scored a career-best 17 points as Guilford College defeated visiting Eastern Mennonite, 68-43, on Saturday afternoon. McBride was 7-14 shooting and made two three-point baskets.

The Quakers improved to 12-3 and 6-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Royals are now 10-6 and 5-3 in league play.

GC led the entire game and held a 43-19 lead at halftime. The home club outscored EMU 27-11 in the second quarter.

Essence Abraham came off the bench to add 12 points on four three-pointers for the Quakers. Teammate Lauren Ramsey grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the contest. GC had the edge in rebounding, 44-36.

Lindsey Krisak notched a team-best nine points for Eastern Mennonite. Jess Washington had 12 rebounds and Chrissy Delawder added 10 boards for EMU.

EMU went on a 12-4 run to begin the second half after a Krisak three-pointer moved the score to 47-31 with 5:31 remaining in the third period. Guilford, however, scored the next 12 points and never looked back.

The Quakers shot 42-percent (28-66) to Eastern Mennonite’s 28-percent (15-54). The Royals committed 16 turnovers, which resulted in 23 GC points. The home club led in paint points, 32-10.

Guilford plays at Roanoke College on Wednesday (1/24). Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
