MAYODANDaniel Bradford was named the new head football coach at McMichael High School Phoenix Athletic Director Thomas Horton announced last Wednesday following approval by the Rockingham County School board the previous night.

“We feel that Daniel is a good fit for McMichael. He is a Rockingham County boy(Morehead High School graduate) who has been successful in both football as the defensive coordinator at Northeast Guilford and wrestling as the head coach at Morehead. He knows how to win and we feel he will relate well to our players, staff and community. He is a hard worker and is willing to put in the time to be successful,” Horton said.

+++++Bradford worked side-by-side with Earl Bates(Northeast Guilford HS) for several years, first as Bates’ assistant at Morehead High School then Bradford followed Bates to Southern Guilford HS and then it was on to Northeast Guilford HS, where Bradford joined Bates as his defensive coordinator…..Bradford followed Bates for around 4-5 years and they had success, everywhere they went and now Bradford gets a shot to do it on his own at McMichael and it ought to be fun in his very first year with the Phoenix, as they will face Coach Bates and NEG, as well as all of the other tough opponents in that powerhouse Mid-State 3-A Conference, with Western Alamance, Eastern Alamance, Northern Guilford and others just waiting to get their shot at ya…..

Coach Bradford has already had success himself as a head coach, he was the head coach at Morehead and led the Morehead Panthers to at least two State Championships….

Now Coach Bradford gets his shot with the Morehead Panthers……+++++
