Game Notes:
Several lead changes in the boys game and a number of times that the game was tied….Missed free throws plagued both squads and Grimsley missed a couple of late ones and Page was down four points, but got within one point of Grimsley, 67-66 Whirlies, when Jahlen King connected on a three-point shot for the Pirates with just 5-tenths of a second left in the game and all Grimsley has to do is in-bound the ball and the game would be over, but Grimsley can’t get the ball in down under the Page basket after the made three by the Pirates’ King and Grimsley tries to get a time out, but waits too late in the official count and instead of a timeout, Grimsley gets hit with a five-second in-bounds violation…..Now Page will have the ball with just five-tenths of a second left and time for a touch and shoot and being down by one point, 67-66, Page has a pulse and they call timeout to set up their last play….Jamarii Thomas will be the in-bounder for Page and he will be looking for Jahlen King, but he can’t get the ball to King and instead Thomas goes to his teammate Sam Floyd near the Page basket and Sam gets off a weak shot, as he did not have much time to work with to get off a decent shot, and it wasn’t the distance, it was that time was nearly gone and he had to hurry and he thought he might have got bumped on his shot, but there was no game-ending whistle and as soon as the game was officially over, the referees shot out of there, like they were coming out of a cannon and they were gone and the Grimsley fans and Page fans had a few choice words for each other and they(Page Officials) were able to clear the Mac Morris Gym without any major instances/issues…

Grimsley missed a dunk with 5 minutes left in the third quarter and that created a six-point swing in favor of Page, as Grimsley missed out on those two points from the dunk and the shooter got called for a technical foul and Page made both of the technical free throws and hit a two-point field goal, when they retained possession after the made free throws….So for Page they got the four points on the possession and didn’t give up the two on the other end, when Grimsley missed the dunk and their shooter was hanging on the rim for the tech….

Devin Resper hit four key threes for Grimsley in the second half and Grimsley got a strong game from Ahmil Flowers and Nick Cotton, plus there was steady defense for the Whirlies coming from Nate Urqhardt….For Grimsley, White, Williams and Gibson all also played key roles…..Lots of effort being released on that Mac Morris Court tonight and the fans were treated to a very competitive basketball game…Page would go on a 7-0 run early and then Grimlsey would come right back with a 5-0 run of their own and it was like that all night long, back-and-forth…

Grimsley was down six points in the fourth quarter, but they battled back and took the lead and ended up taking home the win…Page was down four points with the game pretty much gone and Jahlen King hit that big trey for the Pirates and you had a one-point game and that is how it ended up going down on Wednesday at Page High School….Grimsley slips in grabs a win and takes the mythical trophy back over to Westover Terrace and Page will look to go get it(the trophy) and bring it back home, when the two teams meet for a second time, in early February(February 6)….Another point/note on Page, they lost two inside player to fouls, as both Alex Angus and Terrell Davis fouled out……

Grimsley at Ragdale(3-0 Conference) on Friday night and Page will play host to non-conference foe Southwest Guilford, with the Page women in action at 6 the Page Pirates men and the SWG Cowboys will square off at 7:30….
