GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s basketball team coasted to a 95-46 victory of the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University Wednesday in Hanes Gymnasium.

Greensboro held a three-point advantage two minutes into the opening period before the offense began to explode.

The Pride converted on 10 of 16 attempts from the field to take a 26-6 lead with 2:17 showing on the first period clock before holding a 30-12 lead heading into the second period. Katie Lewis had five of Greensboro’s points during the run, while Shaniah Haynes, A’Liyah Woods, Rasheika Gregory, Laprecious England, Domonique McCoy and Leea Parker combined for 16-points.

The Mustangs would then cut the lead down to 13 points, but Greensboro was able to take a 51-32 lead into the break following a Woods three-pointer.

In the second half, Greensboro mounted a 16-3 run over the first eight minutes of the third period to push their lead to 67-35 before going on to win by the 49-point margin.

“We were able to get a lot of players some more experience tonight,” Head Coach Randy Tuggle said. “This group is continuing to grow together and I am excited about where we are right now.

“We have to take this win today and get focused once again as we return to conference action this weekend.”

Woods finished with a game-high 18 points, while Lewis (13), Parker (13) and Kylee Barry (10) also finished in double figures scoring. Sabria Joseph and Shaniah Haynes pulled down seven rebounds each and Makayla Williams dished out five assists.

The Pride women will return to action 2 p.m. Saturday when they host the Falcons of Pfeiffer University. For more information on Greensboro College women’s basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
