WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Fresh off a 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championship and a thrilling 2017 NCAA Atlantic Region runner-up finish, the Winston-Salem State University Rams baseball program is ranked No. 37 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s first national NCAA Division II collegiate poll.

Led by standout performances from Seth Reeves (first team NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region), Ivan Acuna (CIAA Player of the Year and second team All-Region), and Randy Norris (North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) second team and second team All-Region), the Rams finished with a 39-19 record and fell just one game short of advancing to the NCAA Division II College World Series. With Reeves and Norris returning, the program is poised for another successful season and postseason tournament run.

Competing this year as an NCAA Division II independent, the Rams’ 2018 schedule includes dates with five other schools ranked in the top 40. The team will begin the season with a three game series against 27th ranked Millersville on February 2nd at 4:00 p.m. During the month of March, the Rams are slated to face fellow in-state foes No. 21 UNC Pembroke and No. 33 Belmont Abbey. Capping the toughest schedule in program history will be road trips to No. 22 Georgia College and No. 23 North Georgia.

Specific dates and times can be found on the WSSU baseball website, with all home games being played at BB&T Ballpark in downtown Winston-Salem. For more information on Rams baseball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
