Elon Women’s Track Phoenix Completes Day One at Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three personal-records set on the first day helped the Elon University women’s track and field team get off to a great start at the Liberty Kickoff on Friday evening, Jan. 26, inside the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.

RESULTS

Junior Ellie Bennett established a new personal-record in the pole vault as the Mountaintop, Pa., native cleared the bar at 11′ 5.75″ (3.50m). She would finish eighth overall in the event to lead the Phoenix. Teammate Nicole Karabas was 12th with her cleared height of 10′ 11.75″ (3.35m), tying a season-best.

In the weight throw, senior Bryanna Hames was Elon’s top thrower in the event as the Charlotte, N.C., native also established a new personal-best. Hames had a throw of 50′ 3.50″ (15.33m) and finished just outside of the program’s all-time top-five list. She was 16th overall in the event. Freshman Charlotte Bradsher had a new collegiate-best throw with a 47′ 5.25″ (14.46m) and was 21st overall. Skylar Barthelmes rounded out the competitors for Elon on the day with her toss of 46′ 9″ (14.25m) and was 24th.

The maroon and gold wrap up the weekend at the Liberty Kickoff tomorrow, Jan. 27, with events beginning at 9 a.m.
