Game Report on East Forsyth-Glenn Boys Basketball:Backyard Battle finds EF Eagles winning out with Mahaffey, Watkins, Sparrow, Wiley, Samuels and Hairston leading the charge to the top

East Forsyth held Glenn without a field goal for the first six minutes of the game and rolled to a 75-56 win over the visiting Bobcats at Jack Musten Gymnasium in Kernersville Tuesday night. The Eagles, now 14-5 overall, scored 19 of the game’s first 26 points & never trailed enroute to their fifth Central Piedmont 4A Conference win in six starts.

The improved Bobcats kept the game within reach through its middle stages, cutting the margin to seven points (35-28) three minutes into the second half but East’s relentless defensive created points with pressure, scoring 15 of the game’s next 20 points over the next four minutes to extend the lead to 17 (50-33) and were never challenged down the stretch.

Glenn’s Micah Gainey led all scorers with 15 points.Twelve different Eagles scored in another balanced winning effort, led by Josh Mahaffey (13) & Shemar Watkins (10). East Forsyth seniors Connor Sparrow (9), Tanis Samuels (8), Josh Wiley (8) & Tyren Hairston (8) combined for 33 points from the frontcourt, which dominated the boards (35-23), led by Hairston (6) & Wiley (5).

The Eagles have a quick turnaround after the Glenn victory, hosting CPC co-leader Davie County (14-5, 5-1) in Kernersville tomorrow night. East plays it’s final home game of the regular season Friday against Reagan.
