Kiser Tiger Boys see record jump to (12-0) and what about Coach Chris Huntley over at Grimsley for Metro Girls Coach of the Year???

We are sort like a combo of your morning, afternoon and evening sports newspaper and for the Afternoon Edition, and that makes us sort of like the old Greensboro Record, well anyways, here is a very good story about some young men from Kiser Middle School that have gone Unbeaten so far during the 2017-2018 Middle School Basketball season….Kiser Tigers’ boys are (12-0)….Kiser boys and Southeast Guilford Middle School girls appear to be the only Unbeatens we have left among all levels of basketball in Guilford County….Any more out there??? Let us know….

Here is the word on the Kiser boys win yesterday….Travis Shaw, Tyler Albright, Jackson Noble, Cam Spencer, Jordan Wall and all getting the job done again….

from our reader/commenter:
The Kiser boys won – although it wasn’t pretty. Final score was 55-39. Kiser jumped out to a 20-5 lead after 1st period. But a scrappy Allen team clawed back into the game, cutting lead to 34-28 after 3rd. Then Kiser took control in the 4th.

Kiser girls also won their game with Allen, 50-23.

Kiser and Allen play again on Thursday, this time at Kiser. I believe the girls play first.

+++++GSO Sports Note+++++
Ged O’Donnell, the Top Tiger over at Kiser, should be very proud of these young men…..

In other afternoon notes, Grimsley Whirlies fans are calling for Chris Huntley, the girls basketball coach to be named Coach of the Year, in the Metro 4-A Conference…..The Grimsley girls are now (7-11) on the season, after finishing (0–23) last season….Giving some props today to Coach Chris Huntley, with the Grimsley girls….

Players of the Year in the Mid-State 3-A Conference??
Let’s go with Elissa Cunane and Andy Pack, from Northern Guilford for now, to sweep the boys and girls awards…
Players of the Year in the Metro 4-A Conference??
Let’s go with Liz Kitley(Northwest Guilford HS) and Devan Boykin(Ragsdale HS) for now for the girls and boys….
Players of the Year in the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference??
Jaylen Alston and Jazmin Harris from Eastern Guilford and the Wildcats in the sweep….
Players of the Year in the Piedmont Triad 3-A Conference??
Right now this is kind of a Wild Card, but with all he has done for his team in all games up to this point of the season, we are saying Cameron Hayes from Smith for the boys and for the girls, we will go with for now, Lauren Carter(Southwest Guilford HS)….
PTA Coach of the Year Boys as of today, Derrick Partee, from Smith HS and for the girls, TBD…..

Player of the Year Boys and Girls from Guilford County, that is going to be a tough one for the girls with maybe Elissa Cunane and Liz Kitley sharing the award right now and there may be a slight lean toward Liz, since she has been in there for every game…Elissa had to miss a few games due to injury and she has no real control over that, it just happens, but she sure hit for 40 points last night at home and that is a career-high and must be a school record too, you/one would think…

Boys Player of the Year and right now the lean goes to Jaylen Alston, at Eastern Guilford HS…He does so much for his team and without him or without his fellow-senior teammate, Montez Venable, the Eastern Guilford boys would be in a heap of trouble…

Take away Cunane from NG and similar story and Kitley gone from NWG, there goes the Vikings inside game of 15-20 points a game and at least 12-15 rebounds per game…

Smith is the real wild team, since if you take away a player from the Golden Eagles, they still thrive and so far survive…Isaiah Bigelow missed two games last week and Smith did not miss a beat…You take away Hayes and Crutchfield can play the point and Terrence Burris can step in and move the team and the ball….If Gainey were out, you still have Gamble, and this makes Smith a solid contender, although Hayes still is the one that pays, and runs the freight….Silas Mason is another Smith Golden Eagle that makes them a force and with Mason and Hayes, both being just 10th graders/sophomores and with Jordan Williams being just a sophomore too, better watch out for Smith for a few more seasons, they seem to be just getting started good and have a very strong cast…Going to be an interesting Basketball Banquet for them this year, when they begin to hand out the awards…

Private School, Players of the Year??? Lean heavy on John Newman III, from Greensboro Day School, Aaron Wiggins and Jaylen Hoard, from Wesleyan Christian Academy for the boys and go with Shaniya Jones, from Wesleyan, for the girls and all of these are being looked at, as of today, at this current stage of the season and just look up, the season is fast leaving us behind….The ‘Wild Card’ for the boys might just be Ahmad Jeffries, from the New Garden Friends School, who is having one whale of a season……

Not to be left behind, this is our current afternoon update, from GSO Sports…..

  1. In the Piedmont Triad 3A girls, POY consideration has to heavily be given to Symphony Jackson at Dudley over Carter.
