College Men’s Basketball Final – Randolph-Macon 75, Guilford 63

ASHLAND, Va. – Buzz Anthony scored 14 points and had eight assists in Randolph-Macon College’s 75-63 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s basketball win over visiting Guilford College Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (16-5, 10-2 ODAC) ended the Quakers’ (12-9, 8-4 ODAC) five-game winning streak and kept pace with ODAC co-leader Emory & Henry College (18-3, 10-2 ODAC).

Guilford led for most of the first half, but the Randolph-Macon outscored the Quakers, 17-4, over the final 6:49 of the period for a 37-27 halftime lead. Luke Neely scored six of his nine points during the run, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer.

The Quakers twice had the deficit down to seven points in the second half, but drew no closer. Guilford shot 32.1 percent in the second half and 36.5% for the game, compared to the hosts’ 46.3% shooting percentage.

Four Yellow Jackets scored in double figures, including Darryl Williams and Daniel Noe, who both finished with 11 points. Montese Adams added 10 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Randolph-Macon committed only nine turnovers and outscored Guilford in the paint, 30-18.

Carson Long netted 12 points for Guilford and teammate Will Leckonby chipped in eight points off the bench. Quakers’ leading scorer Marcus Curry contributed seven points, nine below his season average. Kyler Gregory had four points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
