Elon’s Asher Earns Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honor

ELON, N.C. – Elon University women’s lacrosse senior attacker Stephanie Asher has been announced as a 2018 Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honorable mention Tuesday, Feb. 6. The honor comes on the heels of earning a 2017 Postseason All-America honorable mention after her junior campaign last May.

Asher, one of Elon’s three team captains for the 2018 campaign, started all 20 games a season ago for the Phoenix and set new program records with 58 goals and 69 points. Her goal total finished as the 14th-most in CAA history and was one away from tying for the 10th-most in the conference records. Meanwhile, her total also finished as the 25th-most in the country. With 140 career goals entering 2018, that stands as the seventh-most among active players.

Over the course of the offseason, Asher has also been tabbed Preseason All-CAA for the third consecutive year. After the 2017 season came to a close, she was named the CAA Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Other CAA women’s lacrosse athletes earning All-America recognition include JMU’s Haley Warden (second team), Towson’s Olivia Conti (second team) and Tianna Wallpher (honorable mention) and Hofstra’s Alyssa Parrella (honorable mention). Inside Lacrosse will update the All-American list at midseason. The final list of All-Americans will be announced at the end of the season.

Elon will open its 2018 slate with a 1 p.m. game against No. 20/19 Duke in Durham, N.C., on Sunday, Feb. 11. Each of the last two meetings with Duke have been decided by one goal, each going the way of the road team with Elon winning in Durham in 2016 and Duke at Rudd Field in 2017.
