Elon MBB Falls to Hofstra, 67-48

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men’s basketball put together a strong defensive first half, but could not overcome Hofstra’s second half surge falling to the Pride 67-48 on Thursday night, Feb. 8, inside Alumni Gym.

BOX SCORE

“Tonight was a tale of two halves,” said head coach Matt Mathney. “I thought we really defended well in the first half and had a great bounce in our step. We were a little out of rhythm offensively in the first half but competed and had a good lead. I thought we competed in the second half, but we missed some shots that could have made things easier on us and then they got hot and that’s how the game got away from us.”

Elon (14-12, 6-7 CAA) was paced by Tyler Seibring, who finished with a team-best 16 points and eight rebounds. Additionally, Steven Santa Ana chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while Dmitri Thompson added eight points and six boards. Dainan Swoope dished out a team-high four assists for the Phoenix.
