Two Elon Phoenix Signees Earn PrepVolleyball.com All-America Honors

ELON, N.C. – A pair of Elon University volleyball signees for the 2018 campaign – Leah Daniel and Kellyn Trowse – have been tabbed PrepVolleyball.com All-America honorees for the 2017 season.

“It didn’t surprise me to see Leah and Kellyn earn All-America honors,” said Elon head coach Mary Tendler. “They both have size, athleticism and skill level to dominate on the volleyball court. We’re proud of them for all the time and effort they have put in to be successful, and I look forward to seeing them impact our program along with their classmates in Schar Center very soon.”

Daniel, a 6-2 outside hitter from Zionsville, Ind., was named one of the 150 overall athletes across the country to earn High School All-America honors and one of just eight players from the state of Indiana to earn the recognition. Trowse, a 6-3 right side from Tampa, Fla., earned High All-America Honorable Mention after leading Berkeley Prep to the Florida High School Athletic Association state championship.

This season, Daniel led Zionsville with 417 kills in 98 sets with a .330 hitting percentage while also posting 98 aces to just 25 errors, serving 92.0 percent for the Eagles. She also added 192 digs and 28 blocks. Trowse posted 187 kills with a .341 hitting percentage to go with 35 aces. She finished second on the team with 43 blocks and had 118 digs.

Both players are set to join the Phoenix ahead of the 2018 campaign, Elon’s first inside the 5,100-seat Schar Center. The two pair with Haylie Clark of Saint Cloud, Fla., to makeup Elon’s 2018 signing class.
