The Cowboys got on 85 South and headed down to Concord to square off against the Chargers of Cox Mill.
The opening minutes of the game told the whole story on the night. Ice cold shooting, bad decisions and a multitudinous tidal wave of turnovers doomed the visitors from the top.
Southwest was an abysmal 1-19 from the floor in the opening frame. The away uniforms were the only things that showed up in Concord, and it showed on the floor and scoreboard as the opening frame closed at 17-2.
The second quarter was only slightly better for the Cowboys. They were still “out-everything’ed” and saw themselves down 34-14, thanks to committing more turnover in those 8 minutes than an average game.
The second half was no different, as the Chargers took full advantage of the flat, uninspired Southwest uniforms.
The margin hit the mercy threshold in the fourth quarter and the Cowboys’ season came to a close with a 78-34 loss on the road to the defending champs.
Cox Mill was paced by Wendell Moore with 24 points. Southwest was led by Cam Thompson with 11 points.
