HPU Women’s Golf: Panthers Finish First Day at Kiawah Island

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.—The High Point University women’s golf team finished the first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic in a tie for 24th Sunday (Feb. 25) at the Osprey Point Golf Club (Par 72 – 5,964 yards) in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The Panthers finished the first round with a score at 16-over 304 and sit in a tie for 24th out of 43 schools. Host College of Charleston leads the tournament after an even-par 288.

Sophomore Tonrak Tasaso is two shots off the individual lead after shooting a 1-under 71 with three birdies against only two bogies. Senior Cayla Smith is tied for 61st at 3-over 75, while sophomore Samantha Vodry and freshman Anna Holmberg are tied for 134th at 7-over 79. Sophomore Anna-Marie Kuenzle shot 10-over 82.
