GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team extended their win streak to four games on Friday with a 10-9 victory over Alma College.

Behind one goal from Ryan Cole and another from Austin Bane, the Pride put up the first two goals of the game within the first seven minutes.

The Scots answered back quickly with two goals of their own to tie the game at 2-2.

Following the two-goal rally by the Scots, Greensboro was able to open up a three-goal lead following three goals over a three-minute span.

Spencer Kontoulas started up the spurt and senior Kyle Dahlin followed up Kontoulas with back-to-back goals.

For the remainder of the first half, Greensboro and Alma College continued to put up goals and the Pride went into halftime with a 7-5 lead.

Over the first 25 minutes of the second half, the Scots had battled back to tie the game at 8-8.

Michael Halladay gave Greensboro the lead back with his lone goal of the game, but Jake Ellens of Alma College tied the game back up with less than eight minutes left on the clock.

Time continued to tick away and with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Joseph Stump found himself in front of the Scots’ goal with possession of the ball.

Stump seized the opportunity and laced it into the goal to give the Pride the late 10-9 victory.

“I thought both teams left it all on the field today,” Coach Mike Foderado said. “I give Alma a lot of credit for battling back and playing hard until the last whistle. All of our seniors had a huge game today and our defense shut it down when they had to.

“Stump finished in front for that game-winning goal and what a game it was.”

Seniors Kyle Dahlin and Cole finished with three and two goals respectively, while Patrick Bell scooped up a game-high seven ground balls.

The Pride return to the field at home when they host Hampton University Sunday at 3 p.m. For more information on Greensboro College men’s lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
