GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Lynchburg College Hornets Thursday, 4-1.

In the first game, the Hornets jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with three runs scoring in the first inning and one run in the second.

After three consecutive scoreless innings on both sides, Greensboro loaded up the bases in the top of the sixth inning for first baseman, Cassie Collins. Collins then singled to left field to bring in the Pride’s lone run, but Greensboro fell by the three-run margin.

In the second game, Lynchburg struck first, once again.

The Hornets tallied a run in the second, third and fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Cassie Collins stepped up to the plate, again in the sixth inning, and recorded another single.

Collins advanced to second base on a Lynchburg error and Taylor Little found her way home to score Greensboro’s solo run in the second game.

The Pride will return to the field Saturday at William Peace University as they take on the Pacers for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. For more information on Greensboro College softball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
