GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game conference set with the Panthers of Ferrum College Sunday, 8-6.

Ferrum took a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning before Greensboro got one run back on a Chance Bryant single to left field.

Greensboro then pulled to within 6-4 with a three-run RBI double by Tyler Price in the seventh inning before pulling to within one-run in the eighth when Tim Osborne scampered across the plate on a Blake Carroll single to center field.

However, Ferrum scratched across two more runs in the top half of the ninth inning to extend their margin to 8-5.

Greensboro did not shy away from the Panthers as they got one final run in the ninth on a Blake Glass pinch-hit single to the left-center field gap, but was unable to get any closer.

“It was a tough weekend to say the least,” Head Coach Frank Maldonado said. “There is a lot of fight in this team and they don’t quit. That is the one quality I enjoy the most about them.

“We will continue to move forward and get better each and every day.”

Hunter Curtis led Greensboro at the plate with three hits, while Price and Brady Dignan had two hits apiece. Tyler Garam pitched the first five 5 2/3 innings before giving way to Cameron Whitson, Hunter Wolfington and Christian Kercado to finish.

The Pride will return to action Tuesday when they host nationally ranked Roanoke College at First National Bank Field, the home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
