HPU Women’s Golf Finishes First Round at MSU Spring Citrus Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. – The High Point University women’s golf team sits in a tie for fourth place after the first round of the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge Sunday (March 18) at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

The Panthers shot a 23-over 311 in the first round and is tied for fourth with host Morehead State. Florida Gulf Coast leads at 297.

Sophomore Tonrak Tasaso leads the Panthers and is tied for third overall after shooting a 1-over 73. Sophomore Samantha Vodry and freshman Anna Holmberg are tied for 25th at 7-over 79. Freshman Vasy Montague, playing as an individual, and fellow first-year Caitie Gelhausen are tied for 36th at 8-over 80, while senior Cayla Smith is tied for 65th at 85.

The tournament continues Monday (March 19) with second-round action beginning at 8:30 a.m.
