No. 25 High Point WLAX Earns 15-9 Road Win at Old Dominion

• The Panthers finished the game on a 10-3 run to defeat ODU, 15-9
• Senior Darla Poulin scored four goals with two assists to lead the scoring for HPU
• Junior Emory Gaeng recorded a hat trick, while senior Brooke Stevens added three assists

NORFOLK, Va. — The No. 25 High Point University women’s lacrosse team picked up a 15-9 road win at Old Dominion Wednesday afternoon (March 21) at the R.L. Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk.

High Point (5-2) and ODU (1-6) were tied, 5-5, at the halftime and the Monarchs took a 6-5 lead 29 seconds into the second half, but three goals in a row by senior Darla Poulin gave HPU the lead for good at 8-6 with 18:34 remaining. The Panthers ended up finishing the game on a 10-3 run.

HPU led in shots, 36-19, and ground balls, 12-9, while the Monarchs led at the draw circle, 14-12, and in saves, 7-1.

“We got off to a slow start, but I’m proud of the resilience our team showed in getting us on track,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. “Credit to ODU for showing up ready to play today. We are excited to get back to work this week and prepare for another great team.”

Poulin led the Panthers with six points on four goals and two assists. Junior Emory Gaeng added a hat trick, while senior Brooke Stevens dished out a trio of assists. Senior Erica Perrotta scored a pair of goals to go along with an assist, while sophomore Ashley Britton tallied a goal and a pair of assists.

Junior Samantha Herman led the team with four draw controls while adding a goal and an assist. Gaeng led in caused turnovers with three, while senior Casey Kotchenreuter picked up a team-high three ground balls.

Freshman Sarah Zeto played the last 29:31 in goal to earn her first win.

It was the first meeting between the two programs.

Next up, the Panthers host Drexel next Wednesday (March 28). First draw at Vert Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
