College Softball Final: Guilford 6, Randolph 4

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Pinch-hitter Kailey Swaim had a triple, which scored two Quakers as Guilford College rallied to defeat Randolph College, 6-4, on Saturday afternoon. The second game of the Old
Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader was suspended due to rain.

Guilford (11-6, 1-0 ODAC) trailed 3-2 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning before GC plated four runs, including Swaim’s triple to right field. Makayla Carver and Natalie Conrad scored on the play. Swaim was brought home on a ground-out to shortstop by Kayli Blankenship. Anna Wolfe (2-2, 2 runs scored) smacked a home run to centerfield for the Quaker’s sixth and final run.

The Wildcats recorded an unearned run off Carver to push the score to 6-4 in the sixth frame. Carver (2-2) got the complete game win. She allowed three earned runs and scattered seven hits in the contest. Courtney Lackey had two hits for the home team.

Randolph dropped to 7-11 and 0-1 in conference play after the defeat. Starting pitcher Gracyn Allen-Ingle fell to 2-4 after taking the loss. She allowed six runs (five earned) and seven hits.

Both teams had seven hits in the game. Rachel Lee and Jordyn Knapp both garnered two base hits for RC. Becca Montgomery blasted a solo home run for the Wildcats in the second inning.

Game two started with Lackey hitting Rachel Lee. The contest was suspended with Lackey behind in the count (2-0) to Knapp.

The Quakers host Bridgewater in an ODAC doubleheader on Sunday. Game one starts at 1 p.m.
