Elon Men’s Golf Wraps Up Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Elon University men’s golf completed the final round of the Seahawk Intercollegiate on Monday, March 26, at the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus course.

FINAL RESULTS

Tournament host UNCW (289-279-294–862) claimed the Seahawk Intercollegiate team title, winning the tournament by 12 strokes. Blake McShea of the Seahawks earned the individual title beating out Davidson’s Jack Lang by one stroke after shooting a four under-par 212 for the tournament. Elon finished 13th overall (311-310-309–930) at the Seahawk Intercollegiate.

“We’re not pleased with results this week,” said head coach Don Hill. “We need to work better, work smarter, and we need to process everything we just went through at the Seahawk Intercollegiate to get better. It’s time for us to lock in and make sure we play our best golf in the weeks to come. My job is to prepare these guys for the circumstances we faced this week and I definitely need to coach them better to further prepare them for what’s to come. We’ll be better next week at the ECU Intercollegiate and we’re looking forward to getting into our normal rhythm of competing every week.”

HIGHLIGHTS
Charlie May was Elon’s best individual finisher as the senior earned a tie for 34th on the player leaderboard. His tournament was highlighted by a two under-par 70 in the second round.

Jake Leavitt carded the best individual round on Monday as he finished with a two-over par round of 74. The senior finished in a tie for 50th in the player standings.
