FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team snapped their three-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Panthers of Ferrum College Wednesday.

Philip Gerber put the Pride up 1-0 within the first four minutes of the first period off of an assist by Michael Halladay.

Less than three minutes later, Joseph Stump found the back of the net to extend Greensboro’s lead.

Ferrum then put up two consecutive goals leading into the second period to tie the game at 2-2.

Senior Ryan Cole did not let the half end in a tie. Less than three minutes after Ferrum’s second goal, Austin Bane dished out an assist to Cole to take a 3-2 lead going into halftime.

The two teams traded a pair of goals in the third period, but Ferrum tacked on one more goal at the end of the third to tie the game at 4-4.

Kyle Dahlin went unassisted for a goal in the second minute of the fourth period to give the Pride back the lead. But with just under two minutes remaining in the game, Ferrum answered back to tie the game once again.

As the clock ticked down and less than one minute was remaining on the clock, Halladay scored on the Panthers and secured the one-goal victory.

“What a great win for the program today,” Head Coach Mike Foderaro said. “From the seniors, down to the freshman, everyone was great today.

“Guys on the field played their hearts out and the guys cheering and echoing the calls were crucial. Family came first today for sure!”

Dahlin ended the night with two goals and four ground balls. Stephen Tanner not only earned the win, but also recorded a game-high 12 saves.

The Pride will return to Pride Field Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host Piedmont College on senior day. For more information on Greensboro College men’s lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
