High Point Multi-Use Stadium Groundbreaking

High Point, NC – High Point Baseball announced today that the official groundbreaking for the High Point Multi-Use Stadium has been set for Wednesday, April 11th at 11:30AM at the construction site at the corner of North Elm Street and Gatewood Avenue in downtown High Point. In addition to the traditional turning of dirt, the name and logo of the facility will be unveiled. It was recently announced that BB&T will be the entitlement partner.

“It’s an exciting time to live in High Point. Right now, we are building our future! The Multi-Use Stadium and surrounding redevelopment shows what High Pointers can achieve when we work together toward a common vision, and it would not be possible without the teamwork of our City Council and Staff as well as the partnerships between the City, High Point University, and our Business and Philanthropic Communities, as well as so many committed citizens through groups such as the High Point Community Foundation, Forward High Point, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau and many others,” proclaimed Mayor Jay Wagner. “Let’s take this time to celebrate our future!”

“BB&T is committed to the High Point area and demonstrates this by supporting many local projects and organizations,” said Leah Price, BB&T High Point Market President. “Our recent investment into the new stadium, through naming rights, fits with BB&T’s mission part of which is ‘to make the world a better place to live by making our communities in which we work better places to be.’ We believe in giving back and strengthening our communities so we are proud to support the new stadium efforts.”

Numerous local businessmen and officials are slated to address the crowd including High Point Mayor Jay Wagner; High Point University President Dr. Nido Qubein; BB&T executives Cantey Alexander and Leah Penry Price and Chairman of the Board for High Point Baseball Coy Williard, Jr. Other dignitaries also expected to attend include City Council members of High Point; owners of Samet Corporation and architects from Odell.

“The future of our city is bright indeed. We have the human resources and the strategic planning to execute on a solid plan for growth and development — ensuring that all the citizens of High Point can benefit measurably from new programs and facilities,” contributed Dr. Nido Qubein, President of High Point University.

Come join the celebration. The event is open to the public with gates opening at 11AM and the official program commencing at 11:30AM. It will be a party as DJ Hek Yea keeps the crowd jumping, while the T.W. Andrews Marching Band performs the National Anthem. Although it is not necessary, those who pre-register to attend this free event at High Point Baseball’s new website at www.HighPoint-Baseball.com will be eligible for exclusive benefits. Fans who pre-register will be eligible for a complimentary box lunch from BBQ Joe’s Country Cooking & Catering. In addition, one lucky pre-registered fan will join the VIPs by turning dirt as part of the official groundbreaking ceremony, while getting to keep the shovel as a collectable. The winner will receive two tickets to the 2019 Atlantic League home opener as well. Meanwhile, all fans in attendance regardless of whether or not they pre-registered will receive an oversized commemorative ticket as a keepsake featuring the new stadium logo while also being eligible for numerous other door prizes.

“Although the primary goal for the stadium is to create a vibrant downtown business core, an important byproduct will be the countless memories for the fans,” said Coy O. Williard, Jr. Chairman of the Board for High Point Baseball. “Everyone who attends will always remember April 11th, 2018, especially if you are the lucky winner that gets to dig in and officially get the construction started.”

It is recommended to arrive early as a large crowd is anticipated based upon the supportive turnout for “Demo Day” on December 1st, 2017.
