HPU Track and Field: Day One Action Complete at Bill Webb Combined Events

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A pair of High Point University sophomores lead after Day One action of the Bill Webb Combined Events Thursday (March 29) at Vert Stadium.

Sophomore Madison Reynolds leads the heptathlon with 2,717 points after placing second in both the 100m hurdles (14.97) and the high jump (1.59m – 5-2.5).

Senior CeAnna Soper is right behind in second with 2,704 points after winning the shot put with a mark of 11.99m (39-4). Sophomore Anika Weisbrod is fourth with 2,631 points.

In the decathlon, sophomore Pablo Romero leads with 3,664 points after placing first in the 100 meters (10.95), long jump (6.66m – 21-10.25) and 400 meters (50.01) and tying for first in the high jump (1.92m – 6-3.5).

Freshman Gabriel Stainback, competing in his first decathlon, is second with 3,563 points after placing second in the shot put (12.06m – 39-7) and long jump (6.61m – 21-8.5). Junior Brad Kanney is seventh place with 2,854 points.

Day Two action at the Bill Webb Combined Events is scheduled for a 10:45 a.m. start.
