Case Breaks HPU Track & Field Record in 800m at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH N.C./SPARTANBURG, S.C. — High Point University track and field junior Keaton Case broke the school record in the 800 meters at the Raleigh Relays Saturday (March 31) in Raleigh. The Panthers also had a select group compete at the Terrier Relays.

Case finished seventh in the women’s 800 meters invitational in a time of 2:08.39. She broke the previous school record of 2:08.65 set by Jemissa Hess in 2005.

Down in Spartanburg, senior Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine broke the Terrier Relays record in the women’s discus, finishing first with a mark of 47.28m (155-1).

Sophomore Carter Clasper placed second on misses in the men’s pole vault, clearing a height of 4.80m (15-9), while fellow sophomores Jordan McClung and Zane Griffith placed second (4.65m – 15-3) and third (4.35m – 14-3.5), respectively.

In the women’s 1,500 meters, freshmen Franzi Jakobs and Sydney Bagus placed fifth and sixth in 4:55.74 and 4:56.98, respectively.

Junior Zoe Geis placed sixth in the women’s 400m hurdles in 1:06.67.

In the men’s high jump, sophomore John Singleton III cleared a height of 1.85m (6-1) and finished seventh on misses.

Next up, the Panthers host the 10th annual VertKlasse Meeting at Vert Stadium April 6-7.
