Day Two Results from the 2018 Farm Bureau/Grasshoppers Invitational Baseball Tournament:SEG to meet WES in the Monday Night Championship Game at SEG

Here are the Baseball Finals from Day Two of the 2018 Farm Bureau/ Greensboro Grasshoppers Invitational Baseball Tournament, at First National Bank Field….

Day Two……….
Game One:Rockingham County 4, McMichael 0
*****One of the best games of the tournament with the game tied at 0-0 after 4 1/2 Innings…A complete-game victory for RC starting pitcher Coby Ingle and some king of pitching early in the game from Ingle(ROCK) and Preston Snyder(McMichael)…..*****
Game Two:Western Guilford 9, Reidsville 2
*****WG got one heck of an effort from Hornets’ starting pitcher Caleb Carden…Six runs in the 6th Inning made life good for Western Guilford….Clay Dilday and Matt Goard with two hits a-piece led the WG hitters from the on-deck circle to the Winner’s Circle….*****
Game Three:Southeast Guilford 13, Grimsley 2…(5 Innings)
*****SEG has out-scored their opposition 33-6 in the tournament….SEG got a solo HR from Devin Bartley in the first inning and that pretty much set the tone for the SEG Falcons on the night….Back-to-Back starts for SEG’s Brandon Wallace over the Friday and Saturday games….Not very often you can find Back-to-Back starts from a pitching staff….SEG has yet to use Jaylen Guy or Ryan Douglas on the mound during the tourney and they will both be available for extended action in the Championship Game on Monday night, at Southeast, vs. WES….*****
Game Four:Wesleyan Christian Academy 3, Western Alamance 1
Two-run triple off the bat of Wesleyan’s Nick Caldwell in the Top of the 6th Inning and the those runs made WES a winner in a game that saw losing pitcher KJ Wells strike out 11 WES batters and his counterpart, Caleb Cozart was equally impressive striking out six WA batters and earning the Complete-Game victory…..Cozart allowed one run on five hits and the matchup with Cozart vs. Wells had to be on of the best pitching duals/battles in the history of the Farm Bureau Invitational Baseball Tournament…..Wells vs. Cozart, has to be counted among the top games in the state this season, at any level….College, High School, Professional, AAU, Youth Baseball, no matter what level, the WES-WA game, on Saturday night ranks as one of the top baseball games played anywhere this season….WES grabbed 1-0 lead about mid-way through the game(3rd Inning) and then here comes Western Alamance tying the contest at 1-1, with a run in the fifth….Then in the bottom of 6th Inning, Nick Caldwell roped one past the WA center fielder and it was off to the races for the WES runners and when the dust settled Caleb Cozart’s runner and Kody Proctor had scored and Caldwell was standing on third base and WES was on the way to win, in what had to be the top baseball game in the state on this Easter Saturday evening…..Western Alamance was ranked at the #1 team in the state of North Carolina, by MaxPreps when they arrived at the ballpark today and Wesleyan Christian finished last season as the #8 ranked team in the entire nation by USA Today Sports and WES might be even better this year/season, than they were last year/season….

Also WES has played the first two games of 2018 Farm Bureau/Grasshoppers Tournament minus Brett Kerry, who has been away from the WES team, while attending a family funeral….Kerry will be there at SEG on Monday for the Championship Game and might end up being listed as the starting pitcher, and Kerry is due to in Columbia, next season, playing for the South Carolina Gamecocks….SEG can with either Jaylen Guy or Ryan Douglas on Monday and this game will be for all of the marbles, as it means all, the 2018 Farm Bureau/Grasshoppers Invitational Baseball Champion will be crowned on Monday night….

WES vs. SEG, at Southeast Guilford High School…..SEG has out-scored their opponents 33-6 through two games of the tourney and WES has allowed a mere two runs so far in 2018 tourney action….WOW, what a key comparison, SEG posting 33 runs and WES giving just two scores/runs….This makes for one of the best/greatest chess matches in Forest Country Club history….Who will win the Title? Who will in turn after winning it all here, automatically become the Top Team in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina??

This is gonna be big, how big??? The winner of this Championship Game on Monday night at Southeast Guilford High School, will have bragging rights for one full year and this should get all of the parties involved focused for the prize that will be theirs, at the end of the day on Monday….This is the BIG ONE and all goes down, down at Southeast Guilford HS, at 6:30pm Monday…….You will not want to miss this baseball game…..
(In 2017 it was Southeast over WES, 2-1, in the Farm Bureau Semifinal Game and then SEG went to run past Randleman in the final…..SEG-WES 2017 thought to be by many, one of the Best Games in Farm Bureau/Grasshoppers Baseball Tournament history.)

Day Three Finals coming up on Monday at Southeast Guilford High School:
7th Place Game 11am:McMichael5-6) vs. Reidsville(5-6)
5th Place Game 1:30pm:Western Guilford(6-6) vs. Rockingham County(5-6)
3rd Place Game 4pm:Western Alamance(12-1) vs. Grimsley(8-5)

Championship Game 6:30pm:Southeast Guilford(11-1) vs. Wesleyan Christian Academy(8-1)
+++++This is the BIG ONE…..This might prove to be the Biggest Game in Farm Bureau Tournament history…..+++++

  1. Andy, I have no “ skin in the game” but I was at Southern Guilford today. I’ve coached on the HS/ College and have was a pro scout for the Braves for 8 years. I just enjoy the game and I still “ recommmend” players to college programs. I have serious concerns regarding what I heard/ seen from the Ragsdale coaching staff tonight.
