College Men’s Tennis Final – Guilford 8, Randolph 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tate Godwin claimed a straight-set first-singles win and teamed with Chasen Chacon for a second-doubles triumph in Guilford College’s 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tennis win over visiting Randolph College Saturday.

Guilford’s Mason Robb won the second-singles match in straight sets and paired with Elijah Gregory for a narrow 8-5 win over the WildCats’ Bradley Strober and Edgar Ellis. Gregory, who cruised past Ellis, 6-1, 6-1, at third singles, was another two-time winner.

Logan Glass and Jarad Gandy made quick work of John Coffron and Ben Roberts at third doubles. Gandy narrowly missed a shutout of Coffron at fifth singles in his 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Randolph’s lone win came at fourth singles where Joe Kaneda won a pro-set tiebreaker to claim a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) triumph over Guilford’s Kai Glass.

Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers (5-2, 3-0 ODAC) put a three-game winning streak on the line Wednesday (4/4) when they visit William Peace University.
