Leavitt, Elon Claim Top-Five Finishes at ECU Men’s Golf Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Jake Leavitt claimed the third top-five finish of his career and the Elon University men’s golf team placed fifth after completing the ECU Intercollegiate on Tuesday, April 3, at Brook Valley Country Club.

FINAL RESULTS

The Phoenix (299-301-298–898) finished 10 strokes out of the top-three after shooting its best round of the tournament on Tuesday. On the player leaderboard, Elon had four players finish in the top-25 and three earned a top-15 finish for the tournament.

Leavitt finished just two strokes behind ECU Intercollegiate individual champion Sam Madsen of Georgetown, who won a three-way playoff against Amarin Kraivixien of Campbell and Patrick Stephenson of East Carolina. Tournament host East Carolina (295-292-298–885) rallied to edge Georgetown (297-287-302–886) for the ECU Intercollegiate team title.

HIGHLIGHTS
Leavitt carded an even-par 72 in Tuesday’s final round and moved up nine spots to finish tied for 4th individually. He made three birdies and 12 pars on the afternoon. The senior posted a strong scorecard on the front nine, making one birdie and eight pars. Leavitt earned his first top-five individual finish since earning a share of the 2016 Phoenix Invitational title during his junior season.

Charlie May and Graham Hutchinson each earned top-15 finishes for the Phoenix as they both tied for 14th on the player leaderboard. May posted a four-over par round of 76 and Hutchinson carded a five-over 77 during Tuesday’s final round. May claimed his second top-15 finish of the season and Hutchinson earned his first-career top-15 spot in just his second collegiate tournament.

Dustin Blank earned his second top-25 finish of the year, placing in a tie for 22nd, his second-highest finish so far this season. He made three birdies and finished at three-over par during the final round. Philip Loeb claimed Elon’s fifth top-30 spot as he tied for 30th on the individual charts.

Patrick Frodigh and William Harwood rounded out Elon’s competitors for the tournament. Frodigh finished a stroke behind Loeb and placed tied for 32nd overall. Harwood moved up a spot in the rankings to claim a tie for 39th individually.
