Elon’s Leavitt Claims CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men’s golf senior Jake Leavitt has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association’s Men’s Co-Golfer of the Week today, April 4, as announced by the league office.

Leavitt earned his first top-five finish this season at the ECU Intercollegiate this week, as he recorded a four-over 220 (72-76-72) to finish tied for fourth individually. The Woodstock, Md. native posted an even-par 72 in Tuesday’s final round, which propelled him nine spots to earn his third-career top-five finish. Leavitt shares this week’s CAA Golfer of the Week honor with Jack Gianniny of Delaware, who also finished tied for fourth at the Manor Intercollegiate.

The weekly honor is the second of Leavitt’s career and he becomes the second Phoenix to earn the award this season. William Harwood earned CAA Golfer of the Week honors earlier this season on Feb. 14. As a team at the ECU Intercollegiate, Elon finished in fifth place on the par-72 course at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, N.C. The Phoenix has placed in the top-five in seven of its nine tournaments this season.

The Phoenix returns to the links Friday-Sunday, April 13-15, at the Clemson Invitational, which will be played at the Cliffs-Keowee Falls Country Club in Sunset, S.C.
