Guilford’s Carmen Curtis Matches Own Record at Vertklasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Guilford College track and field teams competed on Friday at the Vertklasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University. The meet featured a mix of NCAA Division I, II and III
teams.

Freshman Carmen Curtis highlighted the day for the Quakers. She ran the 100M in 13.25, matching her school record set earlier this year. She placed 25th of 32 runners.

Sommer Fanney competed in both the 880M and the mile. The senior ran the third fastest 800M history after clocking a 2:28.85. She was 16th of 31 competitors. Fanney posted a 5:17.13 in the mile, which was 29th of 33 milers.

On the men’s side, both Mahmoud Henderson and Tari Walker ran the 100M Henderson was 33rd (11.78) and Walker placed 34th (11.93).

Saturday’s Vertklasse events are canceled due to weather.
