College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Lynchburg 16, Guilford 5

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Evan Lombardo scored five goals and two assists in Lynchburg College’s 16-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse victory over Guilford College Saturday night on snowy Shellenberger Field

Lombardo tallied four times in the Hornets’ 6-0 run to start the game. He scored the game’s first three goals, all in the first quarter, and converted 19 seconds after a Bo Delaney score in the second quarter’s opening minute. Trammel Robinson’s man-down goal capped the Hornets’ spurt and sparked the hosts to a 10-2 halftime lead. Lynchburg successfully killed off five man-down situations in the second quarter.

Lombardo and Robinson also scored in Lynchburg’s (6-6, 3-1 ODAC) four-goal third quarter, which opened a 14-2 cushion.

Robinson finished with three goals and an assist. Teammate Kevin Rogers tallied twice for Lynchburg, which held a 43-25 edge in shots. Goalie C.J. Santora played into the third quarter and stopped nine shots. He and Delaney shared team-high honors with four ground balls apiece.

Aswan Bland’s two goals paced the Quakers’ offense. Derek Zacatenco, Derek Spaulding, and George Faller also scored for Guilford (8-5, 2-3 ODAC). Parker Styles went the distance in goal and made eight saves. Lane Tourtellot picked up a game-high five ground balls for the Quakers.
