College Women’s Lacrosse News -Randolph-Macon 19, Guilford 6

ASHLAND, Va. – Alicia Hsieh scored five goals and Alex Lightfoot added a goal and five assists in Randolph-Macon College’s 19-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over visiting Guilford College Saturday.

Bella Samper scored three of her four goals in the first eight minutes to spark a 5-1 run for the Yellow Jackets (5-6, 2-1 ODAC). The Quakers (6-6, 1-3 ODAC) scored two of the next three goals to make it a 6-3 game, but Randolph-Macon responded with six straight scores and led, 13-4 at the half.

The Yellow Jackets kept their foot on the gas to start the second stanza with a 5-0 spurt that included two Hsieh scores. Julie Bain tallied with 12:56 left to play, which capped a 12-1 run that spanned the halves and opened an 18-4 Yellow Jackets’ lead.

Randolph-Macon outshot the Quakers, 33-8, and controlled possession with a 17-9 edge in draws. Ten different Yellow Jackets scored, including Hannah Jones and Saunders Riley who contributed two tallies each. Jones added four ground balls, three draws, and two caused turnovers. Elicia Wells and Katie Thompson both played a half in goal with Wells making both of Randolph-Macon’s saves in the opening frame.

Carter MacLeod’s goal and two assists paced Guilford’s offense. Nia Gill, Holly Kozak, Madison Iandoli, McCaine Brandt, and Audrey Helfenbein also scored for the Quakers. Sarah Sedaghat made seven saves and picked up a game-high five ground balls.
