Five-Run Seventh Propels Pride Past Wasps, 7-2

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team topped their Wasps of Emory & Henry College in their first meeting of the season Monday, 7-2.

The Wasps took a one-run lead in the top half of the third inning before Greensboro used a two-run bottom half to take a 2-1 lead.

Hunter Curtis hit a single to right field, plating Blake Carroll from second base, to tie the game before scoring the go ahead run on a Cameron Peters single to right field.

Greensboro then held their one-run advantage until the fifth inning when Emory & Henry tied the game for a second time.

However, the Pride was able to put the game away with a five-run seventh. Tyler Price had a RBI double down the left field line before Tyler Fuller and Peters tallied RBI singles. Brayden King then plated Fuller with a sacrifice fly, while Jacob Rodriguez tallied the game’s final RBI with a single to right.

Willis Booth allowed two runs over the first 4 2/3 innings before giving way to Eli Moravick, who earned the win after pitching the final 4 1/3 innings and allowed only two hits.

Curtis, Price, Lincoln Hewett, Fuller and Peters each had two hits in the game.
