College Women’s Basketball News – Guilford’s Ramsey Named to College Division All-State Team

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Guilford College senior guard Lauren Ramsey (Lexington, N.C./North Davidson) was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association’s (NCCSIA) Women’s Basketball College Division All-State Team Tuesday. Ramsey, a first-time winner, was a second-team selection and is Guilford’s ninth all-state pick in the award’s history.

The all-star units are comprised of basketball student-athletes from North Carolina’s NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA institutions. The state’s sports information directors nominated student-athletes for the teams, which were selected by NCCSIA members. NCCSIA was founded in 2002 and its first all-state basketball teams were released in 2005.

In February Ramsey was named a First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selection and last month she earned a spot on the Third Team D3hoops.com All-South squad. Ramsey led the Quakers in scoring (16.3 ppg.), rebounding (7.2 rpg.), assists (4.3 apg.), and steals (2.5 spg.). She ranked fifth in among ODAC scoring leaders, second in assists per game, second in steals, and first in steals per game. Ramsey scored 10 or more points in 19 of the Quakers’ 24 games, including February 10 when she hit for a career-high 27 points in Guilford’s upset of league-leading Randolph-Macon College.

Ramsey left her mark in Guilford’s record book over the course of her career. She became the Quakers’ sixth women’s basketball player in school history to make three All-ODAC teams. Ramsey received third-team recognition in 2016 and 2017. She started in a total of 106 games, tied for first in school history. Ramsey is third all-time at Guilford in minutes played (3207), eighth in total assists (311) and field goals made (489), ninth in blocks (47), and 11th in points (1,204).

The Quakers finished the season 17-7 for their ninth consecutive year above .500. Head coach Stephanie Flamini could return up to 14 letter winners for the 2018-19 campaign.
