Elon’s Zenoni Collects CAA Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women’s tennis junior Suzanne Zenoni has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week today, April 10, as announced by the league office.

Zenoni earned her first-career received CAA Player of the Week honor following a perfect 2-0 week in singles action at the No. 3 position. She shares the league’s weekly honor with William & Mary junior Lauren Goodman.

The junior out of Marietta, Ga. had two dominating wins on the third court during Elon’s 1-1 week. Zenoni had a convincing 6-4, 6-4, win over Richmond’s Dessi Zlateva on Saturday afternoon. She completed the weekend on Sunday with with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Charleston Southern’s Fillipa Ericson during Elon’s Senior Day victory. Additionally, she paired with Kirsten Ward in doubles play finishing 1-1 overall, which included a 6-2 win on court three against CSU on Sunday.

Zenoni currently has a team-best 16-6 mark in singles action this spring, which is the most victories of any player on the team this season. She also extend her singles winning streak to seven matches after this weekend’s victories and she is 9-1 overall in singles in her last 10 matches.

The Phoenix returns to action on Saturday, April 14, on the road for its regular season finale at James Madison. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
