Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity Grabs Lead in Fifth Inning for Victory Over Southeast Guilford

Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity took the lead late and defeated Southeast Guilford 11-1 on Friday. The game was tied at one with Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Shayli Martin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Martin led Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Martin drove in runs on a single in the fifth.

Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Abi Stuart doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, Southeast Guilford tied things up at one when Ingle singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity put up five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity was led by Martin, Isley Duggins, Emily Byrd, and Alley Fogleman, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Duggins was the winning pitcher for Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity. She allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven.

Best took the loss for Southeast Guilford. She surrendered ten runs on nine hits over five and a third innings, striking out one.

Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity collected nine hits on the day. Allison Moore, Sidney Martin, and Martin each managed multiple hits for Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity. Martin, Sidney Martin, and Moore each managed two hits to lead Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity. Southern Alamance Patriots Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Byrd had the most chances in the field with eight.
