College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 22, Randolph 6

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Aswan Bland scored five goals in Guilford College’s 22-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse win over visiting Randolph College Saturday.

The Quakers (9-5, 3-3 ODAC) scored the game’s first 11 goals to break a three-game losing skid and improve to 9-0 all-time against the WildCats (0-13, 0-6 ODAC).

Bland scored all of his goals during the decisive run to start the game, including four straight. The second of two Derek Spaulding scores capped the run and helped Guilford take a 13-1 halftime lead. The margin grew to 15-1 in the third quarter on a Connor Sweeney score before Randolph netted five of the game’s next six tallies, four by Brett Pausic. Kadri Hearns’ second score capped the 5-1 spurt, which made it a 17-6 game with 9:48 remaining. The Quakers scored the contest’s final five goals.

Guilford freshman George Faller scored a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. Sweeney also had five points with a goal and four helpers. Brothers Justin and Mason Boone both contributed two goals and one assist as the Quakers had 14 different goal scorers in their highest single-game goal total since 2015. Guilford doubled Randolph in shots (54-27) and successfully converted all 24 clear attempts. Tony Batchler and Lane Tourtellot both picked up five ground balls and Tourtellot also caused four turnovers. Jack Rogers replaced Parker Styles in goal at halftime and made six of the team’s eight saves.

Pausic’s four goals led Randolph’s offense. Hearns finished with two scores and Prince Charles collected a game-high nine ground balls thanks in part to 12 face-off wins in 21 tries. Matt Lindenbaum, the first of three WildCat netminders, made seven of the team’s 12 saves in 30 minutes.
