Guilford Track and Field Competed at Aggie Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford College track and field teams competed at the nearby Aggie Invitational this weekend. The meet was hosted by North Carolina A&T State University and featured mostly NCAA Division I and II teams.

Senior Sommer Fanney had a strong performance in the 800M on Friday night. She clocked GC’s fifth fastest 800 time after running a 2:29.32. Fanney was 20th of 29 runners.

Erica Chandler recorded a 30.70 200M dash. The freshman placed 66th in the race.

On the men’s side, Alex Heck was 20th of 21 competitors in the discus. The freshman posted a 25.73 mark in the event.

Senior Josephus Mitchell ran the 100M dash in 11.25. He was 34th or 45 men in the event.

Freshman Tuari Walker and sophomore Wayna Alford both competed in the 200M. Walker (24.32) was 58th and Alford was one place behind after posting a time of 24.74.

The Quaker track and field teams return to action next weekend at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. The two-day meet begins on Friday (4/20) at Bridgewater (Va.) College.
